A rare steel Spring Drive Chronograph GMT

I was intrigued by this modern Japanese approach to the 30+ year pursuit of perfecting timekeeping ability in a mechanical watch. Well this execution of the amazing spring drive technology is possibly it's best use, as the sweeping second hand for the chrono is perfect.

The fit and finish from this power house of a manufacturer is excellent, and although machine finished, like many European counterparts at this pricing level, it is expertly put together by skilled watchmakers in the Japanese Alps, in a tiny department of Seiko dedicated to the very high level of watchmaking.

This watch sports 53 jewels and utilizes a vertical clutch chronograph with a column wheel. One of the most amazing attributes of this movement is a small part called the "Magic Lever" which is part of the self-winding mechanism and accounts for the incredible speed with which the watch woinds itself on the wrist. A very efficient system, I know from personal experience with my Moonphase Spring Drive.

Limited to only 300 pieces in steel.
