The Friedrich III Remontoir expands one of the brand’s most versatile movements to include one of the most sophisticated complications in fine watchmaking: the seconds remontoir. Based on the proven architecture of Caliber VI, LH Caliber VI-I ensures that the escapement receives the same force at every moment, regardless of the mainspring’s state of winding. To achieve this, a fine remontoir balance spring is rewound and discharged once per second. This is visible in the characteristic jump of the second hand. The numerals, hands, and off-center seconds sub-dial continue to form the finely balanced, aesthetically and functionally harmonious unit for which the Friedrich III is renowned. On the back, the trigonal wheel bridge offers a view of the interplay between the power reserve, the trigger mechanism, and the escapement. Saxon craftsmanship made visible.

Caliber VI-I

Caliber VI-I expands the architecture of Caliber VI with a seconds remontoir. A small storage spring is tensioned at fixed intervals and transfers energy more evenly to the escapement. This creates the jumping eccentric seconds while stabilizing the delivery of power over the usable remontoir range. The open wheel bridge makes this constant-force mechanism visible.

Remontoir With Reuleaux Triangle

A remontoir is an intermediate-force mechanism within the movement. In Caliber VI-I, this mechanism is positioned at the escape wheel and tensions a small storage spring at fixed intervals. At a frequency of 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour, this happens every five semi-oscillations, in other words once per second. The Reuleaux triangle plays a central role here. As a component of constant width, it precisely controls the switching process and enables the stored energy to be transferred evenly to the escapement. In this way, the decreasing force of the mainspring is compensated over the usable remontoir range and the amplitude of the balance is stabilized. This technical process becomes visible on the dial: the eccentric seconds hand jumps in clear one-second steps.
